In 2007

• This weblog restarted.
• I shared my cookie recipe.
• I expressed umbrage at the diagnostic approach to bipolar disorder in children.
• I struggled with writing stories.
• The garden of cognitive distortions bloomed.
• I attended the Washington State Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting.
• I continued to perform physical exams on potentially assaultive patients. (And was not assaulted.)
• People commented frequently about defensive medicine. Similar issues apply in psychiatry.
• I applied for a fellowship position in consult-liaison psychiatry, went through several drafts of my personal statement, and ultimately got accepted at the program of my choice.
• I continued to have mixed thoughts and feelings about the involuntary treatment act of psychiatric hospitalizations.
• A good friend and I visited the wonderful city that is Vancouver, British Columbia.
• People continued to experience the medical complications that result from failed suicide overdoses.
• I took up running and logged over 160 miles.
• In an effort to consistently produce quality writing, I embarked upon a writing project with a focus on relationships. (The result was 27 posts in 40 days.)
• I drove around the Cascade Loop. Absolutely visually stunning.
• Another edition of the LIterary Medblogging Project came out in July.
• People continued to pay a lot of money for medical education.
• The Seattle Lindy Exchange came and went.
• Courts continued to summon jurors for jury duty, though not all people end up on a jury.
• I expounded upon my experience as an Asian-American.
• Bureaucrats continued to interfere with the delivery of health care.
• Medical students continued to ask questions of residency programs to elucidate “best fit”. Or at least “desired fit”.
• In September, I visited New York City.
• Psychiatrists continued to conduct interviews.

I told a lot of stories in between, too.

2008 promises to be an eventful year for me and it is with both (a lot of) excitement and (a little bit of) anxiety that I look towards the New Year.

I’ll be on the dance floor in a fetching purple dress when the clock strikes midnight tonight. There’s nothing else I’d rather be doing at that time.
